DCFS to Cease Operation of Reunification Line Today

Texas Families Seeking to Locate Harvey Survivors in Shelters Advised to Visit SafeandWell.org

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is ceasing operation of its reunification line today for anyone seeking to locate Hurricane Harvey survivors in state-run shelters in Louisiana.

Those seeking to locate survivors in shelters are advised to visit www.SafeandWell.org. Survivors can also use this website, run by the American Red Cross, to register on the site to let family members and friends know they are safe and well.

DCFS opened phone lines on September 2 to help families searching for Hurricane Harvey survivors in state shelters in Alexandria and Shreveport. This week, Louisiana and Texas officials worked together to transport shelter residents back to Texas to begin their road to recovery. The last group of survivors was transported to Texas yesterday.

DCFS operators will take calls until 4 p.m. today at the following phone numbers: The numbers to call are (225) 615-0086 and (225) 615-0258.
